What does "EKG findings, borderline left ventricular hypertrophy, major T wave inversions" mean?

What does "EKG findings, borderline left ventricular hypertrophy, major T wave inversions" mean?
Corey,
Left ventricular hypertrophy, known as LVH, is the thickening of the heart muscle of the left ventricle of the heart. This usually means that there is some type of disease involving the heart. This would likely be caused by aortic stenosis, aortic insuffiency, and hypertension. This is usually diagnosed by echocardiography in which the thickness of the muscle can be measured. An ECG/EKG is sometimes used as a screening test to determine if a person should undergo an Echo Test. Enlargement is not permanent in all cases, and in some the growth can regress with the reduction of blood pressure. T-wave abnormalities may also be caused by virtually any type of cardiovascular disorder such as coronary artery disease, valve impairments, and hypertensive cardiovascular disease. From the wording of your question it could be supposed that the LVH is responsible for the findings. However, you state that the LVH is 'borderline' this would not normally produce a deeply inverted, rather than simply a flattened T wave inversion. A major T wave inversion would indicate a possible serious underlying cardiac impairment. As the only information that is available are the few short words contained in your question, it is not really possible to give any accurate answers without knowing more details of the findings of the ECG/EKG and some medical history. You would therefore be advised to contact your doctor / specialist, and ask the relevant questions to ascertain the explanation that you require. You do not indicate if the ACG/EKG was ordered by/through your own doctor or the Insurance Company's medical officer. If yours, then he/she would know what else is mentioned and would have your history. If the Company's, then if there is or is not any cardiac history, you might want to follow this up by having a check up organised by your own doctor to discover if it is a 'serious issue.'
